Washington DC [US], February 21 (ANI): White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday emphasised the significant progress President Donald Trump's administration has made in a short period and said that with 73 executive orders signed, Trump has focused on policies that prioritise America's interests, such as sealing borders, and boosting domestic energy sector.

Leavitt further said that the President is set to host an official cabinet meeting at the White House on February 26.

While addressing a press briefing on Thursday, Leavitt said, 'Today marks one month of President Trump's return to the Oval Office and there is no denying that the administration is off to a historic start. The president has already signed 73 executive orders. These executive orders have sealed the borders, unleashed our domestic energy sector, eliminated DEI from our federal government, stopped the weaponisation of government, reinstituted America First trade and foreign policies and ultimately restored common sense.'

She added, 'As of today, the Senate has already confirmed 18 cabinet-level nominees. Today, we expect Kash Patel to be confirmed as the next director of the FBI. We are proud to announce that the President will host an official cabinet meeting at the White House on February 26. In just four weeks, President Trump has already hosted the leaders of Israel, Japan, Jordan and India. And next Monday, the President will host France's President Emmanuel Macron and on Thursday, UK PM Keir Starmer will visit the White House as well.'

Notably, Kash Patel, an ally of President Donald Trump, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), according to NBC News.

While the nomination faced opposition from Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, Patel received backing from the rest of the Republican Party, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who had previously opposed other Trump nominees.

The confirmation passed with a narrow 51-49 vote, as all Senate Democrats voted against him. (ANI)
